The key to producing a top quality Marine paint is to ensure it has excellent water barrier properties and exceptional weather stability. Durepox is an epoxy urethane with amazing adhesion to carbon fibre, fibreglass and wood, which can be applied without sanding between coats. On a practical level, painters admire its fast dry properties and sandability after three hours with no shrink back. Tests on Durepox show that its satin finish gave a 15% less drag coefficient than a high gloss surface on rowing skulls. This has led to the Durepox Primer manufactured by Resene Automotive and Light Industrial becoming a highly regarded and world recognised Marine Paint.
- Marine Shield, when applied, can be up to 300% lighter than other products presently available.
- Marine Shield provides a hard surface which retains its flexibility and makes the surface easy to clean. It also has a mould inhibiting quality, as mould can cause a rapid deterioration of materials.
- Marine Shield has an excellent resistance to a variety of chemicals, e.g. oil, diesel, grease, turpentine, etc.
- Marine Shield has an extensive colour range including fluorescent, pearl, and metallic finishes giving it a unique customised appearance which has not been previously available.
