RALI National Conference 2016
The 4th bi-annual RALI National Conference was held at the Sudima Hotel Auckland Airport. Larry Fallowfield the General Manager got the ignition roaring on day one, entering conference dressed in a Bus drivers outfit in a miniature bus. This got everyone on board with the conference theme “On the Bus.”
RALI Staff were grouped in 7 groups for Supplier Speed Dating. RALI were very privileged to have 7x suppliers commit their time and effort to showcase their product offerings for RALI. This provided the teams with stronger product knowledge, confidence and stronger relationships with our key suppliers.
This year the Team Building session was held offsite at Rainbows End. The team was split into 8 groups and given a colour-coded T-shirt each. The competition was fierce during the Dodgem basketball, followed by a ride on the terrifying ‘Stratosphere.’ Part of the ride was a memory challenge where teams were given 20 items to try and remember once they had got off the ride. This proved hard as most people spent the duration of the ride with eyes closed and their mind on wanting it to end. The final task was for teams to build a house out of Lego. When the houses were built and the teams had come up with their marketing pitches, they were introduced to our special judge – an 8 year girl who had been selected by KidsCan, a charity that RALI is proud to support. The teams were extremely creative with their marketing pitches and the winning team was able to award the girl the packs of Lego to keep and a free day out at Rainbows End for her and her family.
We were very privileged to have Richard Meecham from ETNZ as the guest speaker at our Dinner. He shared some great stories and many laughs. We had another very special guest with us – Lorraine from KidsCan who accepted a $4000.00 cheque from RALI and Pomona, she also shared some great insight on what KidsCan does for Children and their families. Congratulations to the winners of the Suppliers Sales incentive awards that were also given out on the night.
Day 2 was kicked off by a re-cap of the previous day, and much positive feedback. Aaron Baty and Paul Polverino from Axalta Coating Systems spoke to the team about their product offering and Wayne Houghton from Refinish Performance Management informed the team on what he offers to our customers. For the afternoon we were split into 6 Workshop groups to focus on improving the way we operate.
Overall the conference was a great success; the team gained increased knowledge, confidence and the team as a whole has bonded even more.
